Sneaker care 101: how to keep your kicks looking fresh

A great pair of sneakers can elevate your whole look—but keeping them clean is key. Whether you’re rocking white leather lows or colorful mesh runners, a little regular care goes a long way. Here’s how to keep your kicks looking box-fresh for as long as possible.

1. Clean them regularly
Don’t wait until your sneakers are covered in grime. Wipe them down after every few wears with a soft cloth or brush. For tougher stains, use a gentle sneaker cleaner or a mix of mild soap and water. Always spot test first.

2. Protect before you wear
Use a sneaker protector spray before wearing them out for the first time. It adds an invisible barrier against water, stains, and dirt. Reapply every few weeks, especially during rainy seasons or dusty summer walks.

3. Store them properly
Keep your sneakers in a cool, dry place. Avoid stacking them or tossing them into a pile. Use shoe trees if you want to maintain the shape, or stuff them with paper to keep the toe box firm.

4. Watch your laces and soles
Don’t overlook the little things. Throw your laces in a mesh laundry bag and wash them occasionally. Wipe down your outsoles with a damp cloth to stop dirt from creeping up.

5. Rotate your pairs
Wearing the same sneakers every day wears them out faster. Give your shoes time to breathe and recover by rotating between a few favorite pairs.

With a little care and consistency, your sneakers can keep turning heads long after you unbox them. Your kicks deserve it—and so do you.
